We have many years of experience in underwater inspection and NDT operations and our established service department provides clients with trusted and professional inspection below the water line.

As one of the leading classification societies in the world, Bureau Veritas establishes and applies rules in relation to the design and construction of a ship, and assesses the structural strength of the ship as well as reliability of the machinery on board during its life.

There is increasing concern for the integrity of ageing and a greater need to compile reliable subsea condition assessments to meet safety and reliability legislation. As such, we are approved to perform underwater inspection for the following classification bodies:

  • Bureau Veritas
  • American Bureau of Shipping
  • Det Norske Veritas
  • Lloyds Register of Shipping
  • Germanischer Lloyd
  • RINA

Please see our certifications page for further details on our certificates and approvals.

We have undertaken inspection programs, onshore and offshore, on a small and large scale with our own CSWIP, IMCA and Lloyds qualified divers.

We are equipped to carry out all types of underwater and confined space inspection projects by use of our inspection ROV's, underwater video systems and underwater stills photography cameras. Our divers are trained in the inspection techniques required for:

  • The shipping industry
  • Civil engineering works
  • Evidence collection
  • Archaeological pre-disturbance surveys
  • Site survey
  • Bridge inspections
  • Damage reports
  • Salvage reports
  • Insurance reports
  • Sewer surveys
  • Hull Cleaning
  • Propeller, Intakes, and Rudders

Underwater Hull Cleaning

We can also perform quality hull cleaning night or day to assure maximum vessel performance. All hull cleanings can be accompanied with before and after digital photography complete with written reports and we can also provide a comprehensive hull survey report for shipping companies and for Ship Classification Societies.

At ADS, we have the personnel, equipment and expertise to take care of all ship maintenance requirements. Our divers are trained to identify and report hull conditions such as paint blistering, corrosion, fouling and superficial structural damage. We also inspect cathodic protection systems, bilge keels, sea chest, strainers along with propellers, exposed shafting and rudders.

Underwater color CCTV or video camcorder services are available for hull inspections if requested.
